This session will take in-depth look at serving individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in the context of Supervised Visitation and Exchange services.  Participants will learn about important diagnostic information and how it relates to a positive visit or exchange, understanding the view points of the parent and the child in the context of SV, and making accommodations and modifications to your center that can help promote a successful and positive experience for all individuals.

 

Luke Comeau is the Executive Director of the Family Visitation Center in Sioux Falls, SD, which provides supervised visitation and exchange services to the local community and state contracted families.  Prior to the Family Visitation Center, Comeau worked as an Autism Specialist and a Director at the Sanford School of Medicine – Center for Disabilities in Sioux Falls.  There he provided supervision and leadership for ongoing development and implementation of state wide training activities on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) as well as working in the weekly ASD diagnostic clinic.  Comeau has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on various topics focused on serving individuals with disabilities.  Luke hold a master’s degree in severe and profound disabilities with an emphasis in ASD.
